CKC has a new Programs Chair!

Published on 8/14/2012

Ginger Travis is taking over as Programs Chair for the club.  The Programs Chair is responsible for arranging the monthly club meetings.  Paul Travis (no relation) had to step down recently due to other obligations.  Please thank Paul for his contributions and welcome Ginger to her new role!  Ginger is a long standing member of CKC and will bring her special touch to programs.  For those that don't know Ginger, here is a little of her background.

Ginger bought her first kayak in 1998 and started using it to do spring bird counts on Jordan Lake. She writes about birding and paddling for Community Sports News, a free paper distributed in Durham and Chapel Hill. Ginger has her BCU3* and ACA Level 1 Instructor Certification. She paddles with a Greenland stick and has built two skin-on-frame kayaks in classes with Brian Schulz. She's fulfilling her goal to do a lot more kayak camping (and eagle watching) with trips to the Ten Thousand Islands (Everglades National Park) and camping platforms on the Cashie River in eastern NC. So many beautiful places, so many beautiful boats, so little time!

Congratulations Ginger!
